Mission Statement

Cloudforest Initiatives partners with the autonomous Maya, indigenous communities of Chiapas, Mexico, in their struggle to create just, democratic and dignified lives through the development of long-term productive relationships and alternative markets. In the face of relentless, world-wide free-trade policies , we join the autonomous peoples of Chiapas and indigenous people of the world in work that affirms sustainable and self-reliant communities.. We challenge people of conscience everywhere to join us in confronting the ravages of community displacement, human degradation and environmental devastation caused by free trade policies.

Fair Trade Project

Our goal is to help create a world in which justice and sustainable development are at the heart of trade practices so that everyone, through their work, can maintain a decent and dignified livelihood and develop their full potential.

Consumers who buy Cloudforest Fair Trade Coffee know that their coffee is purchased in strict adherance to the ethics of fair trade. This means that contracts are transparent, credit is extended to the farmers of coffee producer cooperatives and a consistent premium price is always paid providing welcome resources to improve community health and education.
