Coffee and Socially Responsible Projects
We partner with the Autonomous Maya communities of Chiapas, Mexico in areas of education, health and more than fair trade, selling their coffee and crafts at prices above fair trade standards.
Organic
- Our coffee is produced without use of pesticides or herbicides
- It is mountain and shade grown under a canopy of multiple tree species, which harbor native birds, bats and other beneficial creatures. Shade-grown organic coffee maintains genetic diversity of native tree species
- We use only the best arabica beans
Healthy
- Coffee is packed with antioxidants
- Harvard researchers calculate that people drinking 6 cups or more of caffeinated coffee, reduce the risk for diabetes by 54%.
- At least six studies indicate that people who drink coffee on a regular basis are up to 80% less likely to develop Parkinson's, with three studies showing the more they drink, the lower the risk.
- Other research shows that drinking coffee, at least two cups daily can translate to a 25% reduced risk of colon cancer, an 80% drop in liver cirrhosis risk, and nearly half the risk of gallstones (WebMD. Reviewed by Michael W. Smith, MD).
